What is JamParty?

Video gaming meets music creation where anyone can now play, create, and share music they make in a living video game environment. JamParty places the entire band at your finger tips. Fire off a guitar riff, kick in a drum beat, bring in the vocals, and watch as the music and visual venues instantly come to life. Different than any other music-based game, JamParty is all about you controlling the music.

No matter your age or musical skill level, JamParty provides instant gratification by giving you control of real music. Yes it's a game, but it goes beyond just getting a high score. It's an open sandbox of sound that you can arrange, control, and create something unique with to save, replay, and share with others.

If you're a musician, you can easily jam along to the beats and riffs from the game with your own instrument(s). And even if you just love music but don't play an instrument, this is your product. JamParty is all about creating your own musical experience. Plug in your speakers or put on your best headphones; you'll definitely find new meaning in the music when you can really hear the nuances.

Which Operating Systems does JamParty work with?

JamParty runs on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

Install Key Problems

Check and double check that your install key code is entered properly. Keep in mind that the code is CaSE SenSItiVe and because of this, a common issue is mixing up the lowercase "L" and uppercase "I" characters.

Also there are potential issues with Windows needing the latest Service Pack update(s) to be able to accept the install key. Be sure to run Windows Update (which can be found under Control Panel) on your computer if you are unable to use your install key with JamParty, as this may solve it. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, contact customer support at support@zivix.net.

I can't install or don't have DirectX

DirectX is a required component to run JamParty on your PC. Normally it will install at the end of our installation app, but if you are not connected to the Internet the DirectX installer will not be able to download and update itself. You may already have DirectX installed on your PC, but if not (or if it is not the right version) please download the latest DirectX and run "DXSETUP.exe" after unzipping the package.

JamParty crashes when I try to run it...

If you are using a Windows XP or Vista computer, it may be an issue with a Service Pack. Check what Service Pack you have installed by going to Control Panel > System. JamParty works best with Service Pack 2 or higher. You can download the latest Service Pack for your system from Microsoft’s website or through Windows Update under Control Panel.

You may also need to update your audio or video drivers. This can typically be done through Windows Update as well.

Which guitars can I use to play JamParty?

JamParty works with most USB (PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360) Rock Band™ and Guitar Hero™ guitar controllers, as well as the new Peavey™ HeroMaker real digital guitar launching this spring.

How do I conntect a guitar to my computer?

You either need a USB supported guitar or a wireless dongle (sold separately) that plugs into a USB port. If the guitar has a direct USB attachment, plug it into the computer and it should be configured automatically. For a USB wireless dongle, simply plug it in and hit the connect button on both the guitar and dongle. The computer should recognize the guitar and configure it automatically. To check the connection head to your computers Control Panel > Game Controllers. Note: It is best to do all of this before starting JamParty.

What if I want to switch to a different guitar controller?

To switch to a different guitar, plug it in, run JamParty, and go to Options > Game Controls. Then select Game Pad and hit Reset. The new guitar should be recognized and the game will remap controls for it. You can also remap the buttons yourself, but make sure to assign every button to something before saving.

JamParty does not let me add custom settings to my guitar

To configure a guitar without starting up JamParty, in Windows go to Start > Control Panel > Game Controllers > Properties and select the Settings tab. Follow the instructions given to calibrate your guitar.

I cannot select multiple banks/tracks with my keyboard! Help!

This is actually a hardware issue, not a software issue. Some keyboards don’t allow certain button combinations to occur (a common one involves using the Z and X keys together). You can either check out your keyboard manufacturer’s FAQ, or try remapping your controls in the Options menu.

The game is running really slow. Suggestions?

Try adjusting the in-game video settings. Under Options, go to Video Settings and play with the Graphics Quality and Resolution of the game. Playing on Full Screen might also improve performance. Make sure to hit SAVE on your way out!

Can I change the button layout of the keyboard and guitar controller?

You sure can! Under the Options tab, go to Game Controls. Choose either the keyboard or the game pad (guitar) and select the key you want to remap. Any changes that you make will only become visible on the Game Control screen AFTER you hit save and re-enter the menu. NOTE: If you remap one button of a game pad, you will need to remap ALL of the buttons.

Does JamParty have any multiplayer modes?

It does not have a "true" multiplayer mode at this time, though you can certainly try playing a jam together! Or you can try playing the game in Party Mode.

How do I share my saved Jams with other people?

You can export a saved jam either to your desktop or My Documents folder by going into the Performances menu and choosing "Export MP3". A window should come up saying the export was successful. From there, you can attach the MP3 to an email, upload it to social networks, or sync it to a music listening device.

How do I download more songs to play on JamParty?

To add even more songs to your library, visit the JamParty website (www.jamparty.com) and either sign in using an existing account or create a new one. You can also sign in using a Facebook account by clicking the "Connect with Facebook" button at the top. Be sure to link an email address in your Account settings before you buy any new content! Then, go to the Store and browse the available downloadable content. When you buy something, the credit card linked to your account will be charged and two confirmation emails will be sent. One is a receipt of your transaction and the other contains a link to download a Jam Pack installer. Once you download and run the Jam Pack installer, your purchased content will appear in the in-game Jam menu.

Is it possible to re-download any content I have purchased if I lose it?

Yes, you can download previously purchased items again by going onto jamparty.com, signing into your account, and clicking on My Accounts. From there, you can see your download history and choose to re-download something.

My Stuff

The My Stuff section of the game is where you’ll find your stuff! Stuff like performances, studio mixes, bonus content, badges and achievements. You can also manage all your profiles here. Want the nitty-gritty on each section? See below:

Performances

When you record a Jam and save it, it’ll show up under the Performances section. Here you can do a couple of things: Jam it again, Export it for all to hear, Rename it, or Delete it if you deem it unworthy.

Studio Mixes

Studio Mixes are the mixes you've made and saved in Studio Mode. The Studio Mixes menu lets you jam, remix, or manage those mixes.

Bonus Content

Play the game. Earn points. Get stuff. Bonus content is just that; a little something extra for your efforts.

Badge Levels

As you play JamParty and level up, you’ll earn badges. Here you can check out your current badge level and see how many points you need to reach the next one.

Achievements

Meet a goal, get an achievement. Here you can view all the different achievements and what you need to do to earn them.

Manage Profiles

Here you can create new profiles, switch between profiles, or delete the ones you no longer want.

What is Party Mode?

Party Mode puts an adjustable time limit on your Jams, anywhere from 1 minute to 10. After enabling party mode, the timer will
immediately start recording when you enter a Jam. Party Mode is great when you have multiple people playing and you need a signal to
give up the controls.

How do I unlock songs?

Songs are unlocked as you gain experience points and earn higher badge levels in the game. The best way to do that is by playing Jams! Also, make sure you check out the Achievements section. Achievements are a great way to earn big points fast!

What is the Looper? And how do I unlock it?

The looper allows you to create and record unique musical sequences during a Jam, and becomes unlocked after you reach the Mystery Artist badge level. For an in-depth explanation of the looper and how to use it, watch the Looper Tutorial after you’ve unlocked it in the Tutorial Menu.

How do I get a Gold Medal on a Jam?

You need 3,000 points in a Jam to earn a Bronze Medal; 6,500 points to earn a Silver Medal; and 10,000 points to earn a Gold Medal. It is worth it though, as each medal will also net you some nice bonus points.

What's the difference between "using an existing Jam" and "using a template" in Studio Mode?

Use an Existing Jam sets up the Jam as is with all its original tracks, allowing you to change tracks and adjust the volume and pitch. You can also add tracks to empty banksets if there are any available. Use a Template is for the truly brave. Templates set you up with a specific tempo and 4 empty banksets. From there it’s all you. So go crazy!

Which Jams are available in Studio Mode for remixing?

If you’ve unlocked the Jam in general play, you can use it in Studio Mode, with the exception of two jams. The Jams "I Know" and "Feels Like Forever." The loops for those Jams are exceptionally long, and we found they caused too many problems in Studio Mode. We apologize for the missing tracks, and hope you can still find the sound you’re looking for in all the other Jams.

I am having trouble with JamParty and the FAQ did not answer my question.

Please send a description of your problem to support@zivix.net and a Zivix representative will get back to you as soon as possible.
